The Heil PR 40 is the quintessential dynamic microphone for podcast, broadcast, home and studio recording, and live sound applications. The PR 40 is an end-fire, full-range microphone ideally suited forbroadcast, podcast, voice over, live sound, and studio applications. Thismicrophone has been designed to have a warm and natural sound.
The PR 40 features a 1” dynamic element with the low end of thefrequency response down at 28 Hz, a mid-range rise that stays flat upthrough 18 kHz. This taylored response gives the PR 40 great articulation.
The PR 40 features a double layered internal pop filtering system tohelp reduce breath blasts. This breaks up the breath blasts and divertsthem from hitting the microphone diaphragm directly. A very courseacoustically transparent foam is also mounted on top of the element tofurther reduce breath blasts.
An external windscreen is also available (sold seperately).
The PR 40 was designed for close range uses. We recommend havingaudio sources approximately 2 inches from the end grill for best results.
It features -40 dB of rear rejection, which blocks unwanted audio fromentering the sides and rear of the microphone. This can prevent bleedwhen used on a live sound stage or in a recording studio. It can alsoblock secondary audio from guests in a broadcast or podcast studio.
The Heil PR 40 is supplied with a microphone holder (SM-3) that mountsonto any 5/8”- 27 mic thread.
